For individuals and families

Individual therapy for adults

Psychological therapy is a space that is separate from the every day where things can be addressed on a deeper level. We start with listening very carefully so we can understand what's happening and then work together to make things better.

Therapy itself is based upon psychodynamic thinking, years of practice and scientific evidence and tailored to individual need. Evidence-based therapies including Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy for trauma and anxiety; Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT); Child Parent Psychotherapy; Insight-oriented Therapy; and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy are provided.

Medicare rebates are available after referral from a GP. Workcover and TAC rebates can be discussed separately.

Children and families

Children also suffer from mental health problems, and do so from the earliest months of life. We work closely with children and families to understand what's happening and how best to help.

A range of evidence-based and evidence-informed approaches are used.

Infant-parent assessment and therapy

Babies, toddlers and very young children can and do suffer from social and emotional problems just as older people can.

Sometimes it can be more difficult to work out what is happening for an infant, but parents and caregivers usually know that something is ‘not quite right’. Babies, toddlers and small children can also suffer the effects of trauma and relationship disruption and loss. Rather than just ‘growing out of it’, they are more likely to adapt to whatever relationships, feelings and circumstances they find themselves in. They will adapt to good things as well as bad. This means that it is important to act very quickly  if a baby, toddler or very young child has suffered any adverse event. The pace of growth is rapid and it is important that their difficulties are addressed before they become embedded into development.

The baby, toddler or small child participates in the work in an active way, as they know more than anyone what is happening for them! Together we connect things up and work to understand what is needed and then try and make that happen.
I am trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and am a supervisor of CPP trainees. CPP is an evidence-based treatment for infants and young children who have suffered adversity.
